Systems Building,
Not Systems Change

Our early years system needs real, sustainable transformation – but systems change often focuses on quick fixes for public services. Instead, Better Start’s ‘Systems Building’ framework aims to address the fragmented provision for families during pregnancy and early childhood from the ground up, creating pathways to services that have been co-designed with parents and reflect the voice of the infant and child.

Building systems change is about more than simply tweaking what already exists. Instead of work being siloed and isolated, Better Start has proven that senior leaders, commissioners and service providers and local communities must come together with a shared vision to support babies and children in new and innovative ways.
