In an article featured in Children & Young People Now, Debra Davies, our Early Years Development Manager, shares how partners across Blackpool are working together to make school readiness everybody’s responsibility.

Getting a child ready for school isn’t something parent should feel they have to do alone. It takes a whole system from schools, early years settings, families, health partners and the wider community all playing their part to support children in the years before they start school.

The article highlights the work we have been doing in Blackpool for a number of years that brings partners together around a shared approach and strategy to school readiness. This has included the co-development of nine school readiness priorities, creation of town-wide tools and delivering universal, free ‘Ready, Steady, School’ sessions for parents and carers.

We’re proud to see this work recognised nationally and grateful to all the partners, practitioners and families who are helping to make this vision a reality across Blackpool.
